President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in seven new ministers during a ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja. This event follows the Senate’s confirmation of the nominees, which took place on Thursday after individual screenings.
The swearing-in ceremony saw the new ministers take their oaths of office in two separate batches. The first group included four appointees, while the remaining three were sworn in shortly after. The citations for each minister were read by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the State House Director of Information.
The first batch of ministers consists of Idi Maiha, who will serve as the Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Ata, the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education; and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, appointed as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
In the second batch, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole was sworn in as the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment. She was joined by Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and Muhammadu Dingyadi, who takes on the role of Minister of Labour and Employment.
This cabinet reshuffle follows significant changes announced by President Tinubu on October 23, during which he reassigned ten ministers to new portfolios, dismissed five others, and proposed seven new appointments for Senate confirmation.
The inclusion of these new ministers is seen as a strategic move to enhance governance and address pressing national issues as the administration continues to navigate various challenges.
With this new cabinet lineup, President Tinubu aims to inject fresh perspectives and expertise into his administration, seeking to bolster the effectiveness of governance in Nigeria. The ministers are now tasked with implementing policies and initiatives within their respective sectors.
