Senator Gbenga Ashafa does not need introduction when it comes to Lagos State politics.
The two term senator who represented Lagos East in the 7th and 8th assembly added a year last Wednesday.
The senator was celebrated by President Mohammadu Buhari and other political associates.
In President Buhari statement, he said, the Senator utilised his vast knowledge in the private and public sectors to make his two-time senatorial stint memorable, contributing largely to bills impacting positively on the development of the country.
The septuagenarian honoured by family, friends and political associates wishing him more prosperous years in excellent health as he continues to serve his nation and mankind. Meanwhile, his wife, Lady Folashade Ashafa’s disappearance from the social scene has been generating questions about the agile mother who retired as an assistant director at the Federal Ministry of Information and Communication, after twenty-three in the civil service had stopped attending functions even before the pandemic.
Senator Ashafa was the first and only son of his mother, Alhaja Jeminat Elemoro, a famous gold and textile merchant at the Erepo gutter market. His father, Alhaji Lawal Kakanfo Ashafa, was also a successful merchant dealing in cocoa, palm kernel, and wood. His businesses were spread across the then western region with warehouses in Ibadan, Ile-Ife, and Ijebu-ode.
