TG Omori Defends Peller Amid Backlash Over TikTok Challenge Comments

Popular music video director TG Omori has stepped into a heated social media debate by defending TikTok influencer Peller, who recently sparked a backlash over his comments on the viral 30 Days Rant Challenge. This challenge, which has captured widespread attention, encourages Nigerians to vent their frustrations about the country’s economic hardships over a period of 30 consecutive days. For many, it has become a platform to express grievances and demand accountability from the authorities.

However, Peller, who has gained significant influence on TikTok, caused a stir when he advised participants of the challenge to stop. His concern was that the prolonged online protests could attract government backlash, potentially leading to a ban on TikTok in Nigeria. Peller suggested that Nigerians who wanted to voice their frustrations might consider using Instagram instead or even participate in physical protests, as alternatives to the viral TikTok challenge.

“Peller cautioned participants that these kinds of prolonged online protests could be seen as offensive by the government,” said a source close to the influencer. “He pointed out that the government might interpret it as a direct attack and respond by taking action against TikTok in the country.”

While some users supported Peller’s advice, seeing it as a pragmatic suggestion to avoid greater consequences, many others disagreed strongly. Critics accused him of being overly concerned with the safety of TikTok’s presence in Nigeria, rather than focusing on the real-life struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians. This divided opinion ignited further controversy, with some social media users expressing their discontent in harsh terms.

One particularly blunt comment posted on X (formerly Twitter) read, “I hate this guy called Peller,” reflecting the deepening frustration with the influencer’s stance. This statement caught the attention of TG Omori, a well-known figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, who decided to speak out in defense of Peller.

In response to the negative comment, TG Omori wrote, “Hate is a strong word, He’s just a boy.”
