Villa stun Man. City to move third in premier league table

A dominant Aston Villa stunned champions Manchester City by a lone goal at Villa Park on Wednesday to move third in the premier league table.

City’s woes continued after notching three consecutive draws only to lose at Villa, dropping to the fourth spot on the table, six points adrift leader Arsenal.

Leon Bailey was the hero of the day as he struck in the 74th to give Villa the lead. He picked the ball up in space and from the edge of the box lashed in a shot that was deflected past the helpless Ederson.

Earlier, a rebounded ball outside of the penalty area and fell to Pau Torres who directed his shot to the left side of the goal, but the keeper was there in time to stop his effort.

John McGinn fired a shot from the edge of the box mid-second half which went a whisker wide off the right post.

City’s goalkeeper pulled off a remarkable reflex save to deny a rebound from Douglas Luiz.

A few minutes to the end of the match, Douglas Luiz expertly controlled a neat clever pass on the edge of the penalty area, but his effort smashed against the right post.
