The founder of a Non-governmental Organisation focusing on supporting rural widows, aged and empowering indigent youths in businesses and crafts, as described his childhood memories of his mother struggling as a poor widow as his motivation.
The CEO Great Dem Autos and Dym tech Nig Ltd, Adedimeji Adegbenjo said this yesterday at the 3rd edition of his annual empowerment program for Rural widows, aged persons and indigent youths in Ibarapa East Local Government of Oyo State.
While speaking, Adedimeji said he considers giving to the less privilege, the weak and the poor as an act, ordained by God, and investment into humanity.
According to him, the Great Dream Foundation is setup to bring widows, neglected rural Old women and men together, listen to them, share love and meet their needs which is often food, shelter and medical attention most times.
He said, “I lost my Dad almost 20 years ago, then I watched my mum struggling with our daily needs, including my education and that of my siblings. We practically have to struggle through to find our feet, definitely with the support of some good people and God. We thank God all that are history now.
“It is three years now and by the grace of God we will not stop. Today as usual we shared the joy of the season with over 60 rural widows and the weak among us. We gave them cash gifts and of course food and drinks.
“We have some indigent but brilliant children we withdrew from public schools and granted them scholarship two years ago, and from our records they are all doing fantastically well in both academics and other extra curricular activities.
“We have supported a lot of young men and women with business grants and structural loans to boost their ventures and improve their craft across Ibarapa communities in Oyo State and we are happy with the reports from some of them.”
In his reaction, the Chief of Staff to the Speaker Oyo State House of Assembly, Prince ‘Bayo Olaniyan applauded the good gesture of the foundation and its founder, describing it as worthy of emulation.
“If more successful individuals in our society can emulate selfless charitable contributions like this, we can be assured of poverty reduction in our communities. Adedimeji is our brother and we’re here to support his good works,”he added.
