Yul Edochie Responds to Online Critics, Claims ‘Jealousy’ Behind Criticism

Nigerian actor and movie producer, Yul Edochie, has once again addressed the ongoing online backlash he has faced in recent months. Known for his controversial personal and professional life, Edochie took to social media in a video posted earlier this week, wearing traditional attire and addressing his critics head-on. The actor’s message, which was accompanied by a mix of frustration and defiance, sought to clarify his stance on the attacks directed at him.

In the video, Edochie expressed his disappointment with the constant trolling and criticism that he has become a target of. “Leave story, you get am you get am. If you no get am, you no get am,” he said, a statement that reflects his belief that many of the negative comments are simply rooted in envy. Edochie suggests that those criticizing him are doing so because of his personal success and the lifestyle he leads, which he believes others are unable to emulate.

The actor also made a bold claim about the motivations of his critics. According to Edochie, much of the online vitriol comes from jealousy of his “steeze” — a slang term used to describe his distinctive style and confidence. “No wonder they beef me so much, my steeze is too much,” he declared, clearly implying that his critics are unable to handle his success or persona.

In the same breath, Edochie referenced his second wife, Judy Austin, who has often been a subject of controversy herself. The actor noted that his wife has provided him with an explanation for why his critics are so vocal. “According to Ijele @judyaustin1, my light is blinding them,” he shared, referencing a nickname for Austin. This comment underscores the couple’s belief that their high profile and personal choices have drawn undue attention and resentment from the public.

The message was punctuated by a series of self-assured declarations, as Edochie boldly referred to himself by his titles. “Ndi Ala! ISI MMILI JI OFOR 1. EZEDIKE 1. Ofu Onye Nyili Ora,” he wrote in a mix of English and Igbo, which translates to affirmations of his leadership and strength. These statements, often associated with traditional titles and respect, reflect the actor’s unyielding confidence in the face of criticism.

Yul Edochie has long been a polarizing figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. His decision to marry Judy Austin while still married to his first wife, May Edochie, sparked outrage and public debate.
