In a recent interview, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose called on President Bola Tinubu to take stronger measures to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians. Fayose emphasized that while he acknowledges the government’s efforts, they are insufficient in addressing the economic challenges faced by the populace.
Fayose stated, “It’s not been too easy, that is the truth for Nigerians, but I think that this government naturally is given their best, but their best still needs to be upped.” His remarks were made during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he discussed the current economic landscape and the challenges facing citizens.
He highlighted the widespread hardships experienced by Nigerians and underscored the need for a more robust response from the government. “If you say they need time, people will begin to question to say, what time do they need?” he pointed out, expressing a sense of urgency for tangible improvements.
The former governor also expressed a cautious optimism about the future, suggesting that improvements could be on the horizon. “Yes, I agree that it has not been too easy for Nigerians, but I know that with little time things could get better; that is what I can say,” he added, reflecting his belief that conditions might improve with effective policy adjustments.
Economic experts have pointed to several factors exacerbating the difficulties faced by citizens, including the Tinubu administration’s monetary policy, rising inflation, and increased fuel prices. These elements have collectively intensified the economic strain on many households.
