Nigerian social media personality, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has denied allegations of bribing Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives to drop money laundering charges.
The controversy began when social media influencer, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released a viral audio recording claiming that Bobrisky paid N15 million to EFCC officials.
However, the EFCC swiftly responded to the allegations, with its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, stating that the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.
In an Instagram post, Bobrisky vehemently denied the allegations, saying, “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira, and that I was never in prison… I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie.”
Bob emphasized, “I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information.” Bobrisky also described the viral voice recording as fake and urged the public to disregard it.
The EFCC’s investigation is ongoing, and the commission has promised to take action if any wrongdoing is found. The development has sparked intense debate on social media, with many calling for transparency and accountability.
