The Federal Government has announced a nationwide free train service from December 20, 2024, to January 6, 2025, aimed at reducing the burden of high transportation fares during the Christmas season. The initiative is designed to ease travel for Nigerians across the country during the festive period.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the announcement while briefing State House correspondents following the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting. The meeting, which was presided over by President Bola Tinubu, took place at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Idris further disclosed that the cabinet members will begin their recess on December 18, 2024, and are scheduled to resume work on January 6, 2025. This break comes in alignment with the festive season and the ongoing efforts to manage the country’s transportation costs during this busy period.
