“I Can Never Drag Skepta” – Portable Defends British-Nigerian Rapper Amid Feud Rumors

Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has responded to rumors that he would soon be involved in a public feud with British-Nigerian rapper Skepta, similar to his recent dispute with YBNL boss Olamide. The controversy began after Portable criticized Olamide on social media for allegedly prioritizing Asake over him despite Olamide’s role in introducing him to the music industry.

The outburst by Portable sparked speculation online that he would target Skepta next, leading the British rapper to comment on the situation. On Tuesday, Skepta took to X, stating that he was waiting for Portable to drag him as well. However, Portable swiftly clarified the matter during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday, assuring his fans that he would never have any issues with Skepta.

“I can never drag Skepta,” Portable declared during the live session. “Skepta is my benefactor, and I would never disrespect him. He has helped transform my life in numerous ways.” Portable went on to elaborate on how Skepta’s influence has shaped his career. He credited the rapper with helping him break into the British music scene and for introducing him to various opportunities that have advanced his career.

According to Portable, Skepta played a significant role in his rise, both financially and professionally. “Now, I’m a British artist, I can speak English. Skepta na him carry me go London, I’m a fashionista, na Skepta link me up with all those people who gave me shoes and clothes. Skepta gave me money, I made a lot,” Portable explained. He emphasized that Skepta has been a continuous source of support, even recently reaching out to him on social media.

“Skepta is my helper. I can never drag him! He still did me a favour recently, he was in my DM yesterday and the day before yesterday. He’s my helper every time, a God-sent. God bless Skepta every time. No go spoil me for my helper o, you these useless people,” Portable warned, urging his followers to avoid misinterpreting his words or creating unnecessary conflict between him and the rapper.

In contrast, Portable spoke more critically of his relationship with Olamide, the YBNL record label boss. He claimed that Olamide did not believe in him enough to sign him to the label, despite their previous association. “I say make Olamide sign me back then, why Olamide no sign me? Why he no believe in me?” Portable questioned, adding that his pain stems from Olamide’s refusal to offer him a contract.

Portable’s frustration with Olamide appears to stem from the singer’s belief that he was not fully supported by YBNL. He noted, “My helper? Na wetin pain me be dat. I only believe in him. He helped a lot of people, but if he told me to sign a contract, I would have signed it, that’s what I’m saying.”

Despite the tensions with Olamide, Portable made it clear that his respect for Skepta remains unwavering. The Nigerian artist took pains to explain that any speculation about a potential fallout between him and Skepta was completely unfounded. “Don’t be twisting my words. Make Skepta dey carry me dey go,” he said, referencing the rapper’s instrumental role in his success.

As for his future with Skepta, Portable made it clear that the British rapper remains a key figure in his career. “The person who made me collect Sony money, the person who filled me in,” he said, expressing his gratitude towards Skepta for the opportunities that have helped to elevate his career.
