Minister Nyesom Wike Urges Patience with Economic Reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Leadership

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on Nigerians to remain patient with President Bola Tinubu’s administration as it navigates through the country’s current economic challenges. His comments came on Wednesday during a condolence visit to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, following the passing of his elder brother. Wike, who was accompanied by several prominent political figures, used the opportunity to address the ongoing economic reforms and the public’s concerns regarding their immediate impact.

During the visit, Wike acknowledged the economic hardships that many Nigerians are currently facing but emphasized the necessity of the ongoing reforms. He assured the public that the economic policies being implemented by President Tinubu’s administration would yield positive outcomes in the long run. “The current reforms may be challenging but are necessary steps toward long-term growth and stability,” Wike remarked, highlighting the broader vision behind the administration’s efforts.

Wike further appealed for patience from the citizens, stressing that significant improvements would take time. “I’ve always said that people should be patient. This country was something else a few years ago,” he explained. He added that many Nigerians tend to forget the previous state of the country and the measures that are now being put in place to restore its economic health.

In his remarks, Wike emphasized that the reforms implemented by the Tinubu administration are not quick fixes but are designed to address deep-rooted issues that require time to resolve. “We have to give time. It’s not like a miracle thing. The policies Mr. President is putting in place are policies that, yes, will have some effects, people will feel it, but we will achieve what we want to achieve,” he asserted.

The minister also reassured the public not to panic in the face of the challenges. “For me, nobody should panic because Mr. President means well for the country,” Wike concluded, reaffirming his confidence in the administration’s direction and its commitment to the nation’s future prosperity.

Wike was accompanied by several high-profile political figures, including former governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Samuel Ortom of Benue State. Senators Sandy Onor, Philip Aduda, Olaka Nwogu, Mao Ohuabunwa, and Chibudom Nwuche also joined the delegation in the visit to Governor Makinde. The presence of these prominent individuals signified the unity within the political circle, despite ongoing challenges facing the nation.
