Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has announced that his highly anticipated Anikulapo series has entered its final stage of production.
The last leg of filming is currently underway in Cape Coast, Ghana, marking the climax of the project. Afolayan shared the exciting update on social media, expressing gratitude to the National Film Authority of Ghana for their support.
“We’re wrapping up production on Anikulapo series and I’m grateful for the partnership with the National Film Authority of Ghana,” Afolayan wrote. This collaboration underscores Afolayan’s commitment to showcasing authentic African landscapes and culture in his works.
The director’s choice to shoot in Ghana was deliberate, highlighting his dedication to authenticity. “I believe it’s essential to tell our stories in the most authentic way possible,” Afolayan stated.
The Anikulapo series builds on the success of the original film, renowned for its rich storytelling and historical setting. “The original film captivated audiences, and we’re excited to deliver more of the same stunning visuals and powerful narratives,” Afolayan noted.
