Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, is facing backlash after the government sealed off his uncompleted building and hotel, sparking frustration from the artist. The controversial musician, known for his outspoken nature, took to social media on Wednesday to express his anger and confusion over the move, which he claims was unnecessary and damaging to his business.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Portable revealed that the government had sealed his property, which includes both an unfinished building and a hotel. He disclosed that, in addition to the closure of the establishment, more than 20 individuals, including artists and customers, were detained during the incident. He also claims that personal property such as cars, bikes, and phones were seized. The singer shared his frustration over the treatment of the people who had come to him for assistance, stating that they too had been arrested.
“I believe in Eledumare, Nobody can fall me. Ọmọ Olohun,” Portable wrote on Instagram, a message that reflects his faith and confidence in the face of adversity. He continued by outlining the unfairness he felt, saying that all the people who came to him for help were also affected by the government’s actions. His tone was one of disbelief as he described the situation, stressing that the entire episode seemed like a personal attack on him and his business.
The singer went on to clarify that his building was being used for more than just commercial purposes, stating that he regularly hosted events and shows at the venue. “I am using here to book events and shows, not only drink,” Portable emphasized. The artist expressed concern that the closure of his property would impact his ability to feed his family and continue supporting his community. He pointed out that, despite his contributions, the government had chosen to target him, which he found deeply ironic.
Portable’s grievances did not stop at the impact on his livelihood. He also highlighted his previous efforts to help the local government and community. He mentioned his involvement in providing street lighting and repairing roads in his area, asserting that he had been proactive in assisting the government with infrastructure improvements. “Before government come for road repair, na me call them to help us,” he said, underscoring his sense of betrayal.
The situation took a more personal turn as Portable recalled how authorities allegedly attacked him at another location following the property closure. “Them later come attack me at where I dey but God pass them,” he stated, reinforcing his belief that divine intervention would see him through the ordeal. The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with fans and supporters of the singer rallying behind him, demanding answers from the government.
