President Bola Tinubu has urged the Nigerian Armed Forces to defend the country’s status as the giant of Africa, amid multiple challenges threatening its nationhood. Speaking at the combined passing-out parade of the 71 Regular Course, Army, Navy, and Air Force, in Kaduna,
Tinubu emphasized the need for military gallantry and sophistication. Represented by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, Tinubu charged the 823 newly commissioned officers to remain focused and professional in their operations.
“We are the giant of Africa and must remain so,” Tinubu said, acknowledging the economic challenges, unemployment, and insecurity facing the nation. However, he assured that his administration is determined to unite the country, ensure security, and reposition it for development.
“Based on this, the present government remains resolute in its mandate to create better living conditions for Nigerians,” he added.
Tinubu also directed the Nigerian Armed Forces leadership to develop a policy proposal to alleviate the suffering of families of fallen soldiers. He emphasized that Nigeria has invested significantly in training its military personnel and expects loyalty, commitment, dedication, resilience, and service in return.
“The nation requires…service from you,” he said, urging the new officers to be prepared to answer the nation’s call whenever duty beckons.
