Anambra Governorship Poll: Valentine Ozigbo, Senator Ugochukwu Uba Win PDP Primaries

Two candidates from two factions have emerge to represent Nigeria opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the upcoming governorship election for the state.
Valentine Ozigbo win the PDP primaries of the faction that happen on Saturday for the Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center for Awka while Senator Ugochukwu Uba win the one of the faction that was held at St. Paul University primary school Awka on the same day.
While Ozigbo win with 62 votes, Senator Uba win with 275 votes.
Announcing the result after the voting exercise for St Paul, the Chairman of the electoral committee, Captain Obidi Ebede, declare Senator Ugochukwu Ubah winner with 275 votes.
They present him with the Certificate of Return.
While announcing the victory of Ozigbo, later on, Phillip Shuaibu Chairman of the electoral committee said 16 aspirants contested but three step down, including Dr Tony Nwoye.
In his acceptance speech, Ozigbo thank leading members of the party and his fellow contestants that he ask to work with him to achieve success.
“I want to appreciate my fellow aspirants, I don’t think there is winners or losers, we’re all winners. I want to beg and plead with all my fellow aspirants that participate in this should understand that we need to come together to work in harmony because that what will us conquer.”
“For Anambra people, let us start something great, we are here to change our story to show that Anambra will return to PDP come November 6 election.” he said.
Ozigbo win with 62 votes to defeat his closest rivals Obiora Okonkwo and Senator Uche Ekwunife that got 58 and 44 votes respectively.
It’s not really clear which of the candidates go represent PDP for the November Governorship election.
Mr Ozigbo was former President and Group CEO of Transcorp Group. He is the current Non Executive Director of the organisation.
Meanwhile, Senator Ugochukwu Uba is the brother to Andy and Chris Uba.
Meanwhile, Former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo have emerge as the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, candidate for the November 2021 governorship election for Anambra state.
Soludo score 740 delegate votes to win other aspirants – Damian Okolo, Thankgod Ibeh and Okwudili Ezenwankwo for the 2021 Anambra governorship primary election.
The former CBN boss got the governorship ticket after several attempts since 2010. Two candidates from two factions have emerge to represent Nigeria opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the upcoming governorship election for the state.
